Dragon-Star has proudly supported the implementation of the FAB workshop in Beijing aiming on developing a joint initiative for cooperation in research and innovation on Food, Agriculture and Biotechnologies (FAB).
The “Experts’ Seminar on Developing a Joint Initiative for Cooperation in Research and Innovation on Food, Agriculture and Biotechnologies (FAB)”, was held as part of an on-going policy dialogue between the EU and China in FAB. Yet another successful example of bilateral collaboration, the event was organised by the DG for Research and Innovation and the DG for Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission together with the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the China Agricultural University (CAU).
The primary objectives of the epxerts’ seminar was to contribute developing a joint iniative for cooperation in research and innovation on FAB.
The experts’ seminar discussed both specific horizontal and thematic questions. The themes covered are:
- Targeted areas for cooperation in food related science, including food waste
- Targeted areas for cooperation in sustainable agriculture, including
-Integrated Pest Management and biological control; organic and low input farming systems; water and soil management
-Urban Agriculture (contribution to flagship initiative on sustainable urbanization)
- Targeted areas for cooperation in the biotechnologies
The experts’ seminar reported its conclusions to the 3rd FAB Task Force meeting that took place in the afternoon of the 11 October 2013.
The China Agricultural University (CAU), member of the Dragon-Star team, has hosted the event and supported the production of backround documents.
