ERICENA Workshops bring together project consortium partners, advisory group members, associated partners and relevant stakeholders on June 20th and 21st, 2017, in Brussels

Organised by STEINBEIS 2i GMBH, FRAUNHOFER IPK and SPI, the coordinator of the ERICENA project, the High Level workshop on June 20th, 2017, brought together about  forty participants discussing Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal and Environmental (PESTLE) factors which will be relevant for the future European Research and Innovation centre of Excellence in China, ERICENA.

In the afternoon the potential services had been in the focus, anticipating that the centre and its regional hubs in China will have to provide regular event based training services, services promoting European research and innovation in China and demand based tailor-made services for European Research Technology and Innovation (RTI) actors with regard to collaboration with Chinese counterparts. Main goal of the centre and its regional hubs in China shall be to fill the innovation gap existing between Europe and China, according to Diego Sammaritano, the European Commission´s project officer of ERICENA.

The next day, on June 21st, 2017, FORTH/PRAXI organised an ERICENA vision and mission evaluation workshop also using the Scenario Exploration System, a gaming platform elaborated by the Joint Research Centre, i.e. the European Commission´s science and knowledge service, and DRAGON-STAR Plus. One important outcome, among others, was that given the limited resources by the EC and national governments, efficient STI collaboration and international platforms become more and more important, anticipating for ERICENA, the future European Research and Innovation centre of Excellence in China, to assure benefits and added value not only for its future clients but also for all its potential stakeholders in Europe and China.
