On June 14, 2013, Deputy Director Xing Jijun, China Science and Technology Exchange Centre (CSTEC), led a delegation to University of Messina. During the visit, Deputy Director Xing exchanged views and reached an agreement with Mz Principal Francesco Tomasello on the joint application for EU Framework Program, bilateral cooperation in international programs, and intercollegiate cooperation and talent exchange between the two countries, etc.
The two sides signed a strategic cooperative agreement, blazing a new path for non-governmental science and technology cooperation. The delegation was warmly received by the University and taken on a visit to the national key laboratories where the University undertakes research. The delegation was also briefed on the environment, cost structure and human resources of the labs.
Other delegates, administrators and professors of concerned areas from Suzhou University and Wenzhou University, shared views with the Italian counterparts and showed the intention of cooperation. The two sides, speaking highly of the visit, said it was a significant step for their universities to embrace international cooperation and expressed the willingness to hold consultations on the cooperation mechanism at an early date.
After the visit, the delegation participated in the 4th INCO Conference in Marseille.
